Performance Care

Vermont Chiropractic & Sports Therapy Performance Care is a unique service offered to athletes of all types of sporting events. Drs. Hart and Harkins attend these races, set up a tent with tables and treat athletes before and after the event. As fellow athletes they know the benefits of this service and that is why it is a courtesy to all participants. In return, it is an excellent opportunity for them to educate and introduce athletes to the benefits of Performance Care and Active Release Techniques.

If you are experiencing last minute aches and pains prior to the race the doctors assess the area with a biomechanical analysis, identify the underlying cause of dysfunction and addresses it through a myriad of soft tissue techniques. In some cases the problem is easily and quickly resolved, but it is more common for the athlete to have several treatments to experience the full benefits. The treatment not only improves but also maximizes an athletes physical potential by reducing pain and increasing range of motion.

Dr. Hart and Dr. Harkins have extensive training treating at sporting events throughout the United States. They have both studied at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center for Elite Sports Science and principles in Training Theory. Dr. Hart and Dr. Harkins have both treated at the Ford Lake Placid Ironman, SunTrust National Marathon and the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 mile run in D.C. Dr. Harkins has also treated at the Musselman Half Ironman and Freihofer's run for women in N.Y. Dr. Hart is a member of USA Triathlon, National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Hart is an avid cyclist, marathoner and a 2009 Ford Ironman Lake Placid triathlon participant.
